Meet Alex

Please tell us a little bit about yourself – How would you be describe your everyday vanilla life?

I am an absolute nerd. I like entertainment and new things. I spend a lot of time watching TV, playing games, and roaming the Internet learning about new things and seeing what is out there.

When did you first realize you were into bondage?

Sometime in my early 20's. It was more of an introspective process as I explored the Internet looking for pictures and videos and that expanded my horizons and led to my looking for extreme or fetish oriented media and information. Eventually I figured out that 'Hey bondage is really a thing and not just a kind of photography!'

How you best describe yourself and why? Your choices are: Dominant, Submissive, Switch or Fuzzy Rainbow Unicorn.

I'm going to go with Fuzzy Rainbow Unicorn. I don't want to limit my experiences by living under a label. I love Sub-Shop.com because it embraces that idea of fun and experience to showcasing and offer a breadth of products. A lot of other online stores try to wrap a particular fantasy around you before you've even clicked 'add to cart.'

Do you feel that your desire for bondage is more physical or emotional? (please elaborate)

When I'm on the receiving side it's definitely physical. Letting go of whatever background noise I may have in my head and focus on experiencing physical sensations that you don't normally encounter over the course of the day.

When I'm on top, it's a lot more emotional. I like the process of empathizing with someone and making an experience for them has ups and downs and suspense like a good story. Bondage helps by giving me the opportunity to create a dynamic range on sensation. Plus for whatever reason I love the involuntary sounds that women make when they laugh or squeal or... you know.

Were lovers accepting of your interest in bondage?

It was never really an issue. Before I really figured out it was something I was interested in, I didn't really push or explore it. Once I knew it was something that was important, I focused my search for partners through avenues or communities where people had the same interest.

Please briefly describe your first bondage experience.

I think it was just me binding myself up as much as I could with the cheapest leather cuffs I could find. It was such an interesting feeling I'd do some 'every day' bondage. Cuffing my feet and hands together and lounging on the sofa watching TV.

What was your best bondage experience?

It's not very exciting, but I had blindfolded and restrained (With Sub-Shop.com cuffs!) my wife spread-eagle, face down on the bed. She told me later that she thought she was 'in trouble' but then I got out the oil and gave her a massage instead! I loved being able to surprise her like that and enjoyed her reaction.

What is the most creative safeword you have ever used?

I use the boring yellow and red. The best one I've heard though was on an episode of Important Things with Demitri Martin where they couldn't remember the safeword because it was 'heteronym.' My wife and I have started collecting them every since.

What is your favorite gear, toy or lingerie item from sub-shop.com and why?

I love gags and my absolute favorite is the Scolds Mask Gag Trainer. It looks and feels amazing. It's even more amazing if you layer it with a blindfold and or an open-mouth spandex hood.

What is the one sensual fantasy you haven’t lived out yet that you are excited to try?

I'll just say that I've been window shopping for bondage horses and sex machines and let imagination take it from there.

What’s your favorite knock-knock joke?

Definitely the one David Tennant told on a game show:

Knock Knock

Who's there?

Doctor.

Doctor Who?

Correct.

What is Eskimo ice?

I have absolutely no idea but I'm going to look it up later. It makes me think of one of those Snoopy Sno-cone makers. I don't know what he has to do with Sno-cones but I've never seen a gadget like that without Snoopy on it.
