Hoods are a necessity if you’re looking to engage in sensory play. They are also a necessity if you just plain like them and want to play in them wink*. If you are looking to give someone the surprise of their lives, hoods are the way to go. Experiencing things without being able to hear or see what’s going on, it’s a completely different experience; you can even do the same things to them you’ve done before, the experience will be different if you add a hood. On the other hand, you can also use a hood as a way to punish someone. Most people find it a good punishment to make their sub wear a hood and then make them sit on a corner, completely isolated from the world. So you can use them in several different ways depending on what you’re looking for, that is why is such a good idea to get one wink*.

There are plenty of models and materials to choose from; the most common ones are made out of latex, leather or cotton.

Besides, you can find them in plenty of models such as:

• 
  Hoods without holes: These are probably the most extreme because they isolate the wearer completely. They won’t be able to see or hear and most of them also offer a gag for the wearer, which is great if you’re also looking to incorporate them to your play. If you want your partner to be completely isolated, these types of hoods will be the way to go.

•  Hoods with eye and mouth holes: These are a bit less restrictive because they still allow for holes where the eyes and mouth are located. If you feel so inclined, you can add a blindfold or a gag, but it will still feel less restrictive for the wearer. If you’re starting out and feel a hood without holes will make you panic or will be too uncomfortable, you can try one of these. If you find you enjoy them and are comfortable, you can maybe try one without holes next time.

• Padded hoods: These kinds of hoods offer the same benefits that a hole without holes provides…but they are padded. This means the sounds the wearer hears are very limited. They will virtually loose all sense of what’s going on outside; they won’t be able to hear a sound or see a shadow. Needless to say, they are very intense.
