How to do Self Bondage Part 2

Self bondage is only the act of restraining or putting yourself in bondage alone, any time you want and for as long as you wish. Alternately, you can have someone else release you, after you are done playing with yourself; both methods are valid. As you may imagine, this involves a great amount of planning, it’s not a “spur of the moment” thing. You should plan your scenario very carefully, because otherwise it could be very dangerous; if you haven’t guessed it yet, the nature of self bondage is one of the most risky BDSM related scenarios.

Some people try self bondage because they don’t have a partner to practice bondage with or they just enjoy the process of doing it themselves; it’s really a matter of preference. The important thing is to take up some time to practice it, make sure no one will disturb you and also, that you will have enough time to play as you wish, there’s no rush! You will also need to plan and have a back up emergency plan; besides of a spare key/scissors, ideally someone will know what you are doing and can check up on you, so you can called them in case something goes wrong.

Before you start, you should plan exactly what you want to do and stick to that, there shouldn’t be any room for improvising. You should also think beforehand about any possible emergency scenarios (medical emergencies, natural disasters, accidents) and be prepared for them. I mean, probably you won’t be totally and completely prepared (we don’t have the gift of third sight, after all), but at least think about it. And before you start, don’t forget about possible things you may have left out, like turning off the stove, checking the faucets, locking out the door, etc)

So, now for the fun part. You can practice self bondage in numerous ways, all will depend on your tastes:

  • Rope: It’s versatile, you can get it almost anywhere and you can use basically anywhere (except of the neck and chest, if you want to keep living wink*). There’s soft rope, hard rope, wide rope, thin rope…There are also numerous knots and ways you can tie yourself, so you can experiment with want you like the best. And don’t forget; keep a pair of scissors and a knife nearby! And don’t make them too tight, remember: blood flow.
  • Chains: You can use chains to tie yourself to something, like a collar, bed or a chair (nice!). Want to make it more fun? Add some locks to the chains to secure your limbs. If you want to use chains, just keep in mind they are harder to cut than ropes and they are also heavier and harder on the skin. And also, the restriction of blood flow also applies here.
  • Locks: They can be released through keys or by combination and can be used in all types of bondage, so they can restrict any body part and can make any bondage more difficult.
  • Handcuffs: They are placed on the wrists (duh!) and can either be super restrictive or looser. Generally they release through keys and you should be careful about nerve damage, which is no joke!
  • Leather restraints: These kinds of restraints are really comfortable, so they tend to be used on longer bondage sessions. Blindfolds, chastity belts, body harness and ankle & wrist cuffs are the most popular. They are very durable and versatile, so another plus for them.
  • Latex: Here, mummification suits, zentai suits and hoods are the most used. Basically, choose your favorite body part and you will find a latex garment for it, wink*. They are a great companion to any bondage because 1) they are restrictive 2) they feel amazing on the skin.
