How to Do Self Bondage

Ohh, the wonders of doing things by yourself. Most times is nice doing certain things and activities with someone…but other times that is just not possible. And that is why I’ll be talking about self-bondage.

Self bondage is simply putting restraints on yourself for the time you choose and simply liberating afterwards or having someone else do it for you. Some people can do it because they have an interest in bondage but don’t have someone else to share it with, others because they enjoy the excitement of tying themselves or has a particular fantasy the may have. As you can assume, it does take a certain amount of planning, this is not a spur of the moment situation, but it is worth it, wink*.

First, you will have to plan and make time for this particular experience. There should not be any interruptions, so reserve some time to do it. Also, if you don’t want to be discovered, make sure to do it in a private place where you don’t be disturbed. As for the safety part, you will also want to make sure you have a B plan. That means you should either let someone know what you will be doing and have them visit you in case you won’t respond after a while and/or you should also have a pair of scissors or knife nearby and also spare keys to the locks (in a easy place to locate!). And well, don’t tie your neck and other areas that are important to, you know, breathing and living, wink*.

For safety reasons, you should plan your self-bondage and figure out exactly what is it you will be doing before the session. Don’t add on things if you don’t had them planned on the first place because that are just accidents waiting to happen. And lastly, before you begin, run over your mental or (physical) list, just as you were travelling: did I turn off the stove? Are the doors locked? Do I want to go to the bathroom? Have a glass of water? Eat? You know the drill, remember doing things bound up can be quite hard (not to mention impossible).

As for the actual bondage, there are numerous methods and items you can use, just like bondage between two people can be done. What I do have to warn you about is to only do methods you have tried before and that includes your back up plan. This will not be time for experimenting!

You can do handcuffs, for instance. Keep in mind they can be a bit harmful on the wrists because they can cut off circulation (remember, never leave any member tied up for a significant amount of time), but they are extremely popular. Handcuffs are released through keys, of course.

Locks can be used in basically any type of bondage and they can restrain any body part as well. The ones that are keyed will need the keys to get out, but you can put them on large bucket of ice and try to get them out, wink*. You can also use a different combination of locks and keys for each body part. There’s also a variety that uses those bicycle locks. You can try to get out with the lights out or use a timer to try to release yourself before a set time. Just never use blindfolds with this!

Another popular method is ropes. The good thing about them is they can be used basically anywhere in the body (except for those I mentioned above!) and there is a very wide range of materials and types you can use. You will have to consider the knots you will want to use, they can be as easy or complicated as you choose. The downside is, ropes can tighten and knots can slip, creating pain. That is why you should really know what knots you will be using and how to release the ones you are using (practice first! Practice makes perfect! wink*). And anyway, you should always keep a pair of scissors and/or knife nearby, just in case.

Ok, and that leads me to mention chains. They won’t be as multipurpose and adaptable as a rope, but hey, no knot! They can be used to tie yourself up to a chair or bed, maybe combined with a collar? You can use them with locks, to take the restrain factor up a notch or can use them to fasten handcuffs and ankle cuffs.

If you are really interested in self-bondage, you can always invest in leather restraints. These are particularly good if you are looking for longer sessions because they are really comfortable. There can be wrist cuffs, blindfolds, hoods, chastity belts and body harness made of leather, so there’s a lot to choose from.

Also, latex is also a good investment if you are a self-bondage pro. There are full body suits, mummification sacks and other items. I said pro because putting on latex things by yourself can be tricky and getting out of them without causing damage to the piece is even harder, but if you are a pro, you will not have trouble doing so wink*.
