Please tell us a little bit about yourself – How would you describe your everyday vanilla life?

I would describe my everyday life as fairly normal. I’m a stay at home parent, working from home. I try to stay active and fit. My twins keep me busy. I enjoy hockey (super Canadian of me) and watching movies and playing video games in my spare time.

When did you first realize you were into bondage?

I realized I was into bondage on a sexual level when I was in my early teens. I remember watching a late night adult show about the BDSM lifestyle. It was more of a talk show almost when they were just showing products and doing demonstrations. I remember being so interested in a scenario where two women dressed in leather and latex put a man in a latex bed and tickled him. I desperately await the day when I can be in that position. When I realized this, a lot of my past experiences made sense. When I was a kid, I’d always love to play games like cops and robbers and would always like to be cuffed or tied and try to escape. Always games like that, and it finally made sense. I still like it too!

How you best describe yourself? Your choices are: Dominant, Submissive, Switch or FuzzyRainbow Unicorn. Please explain your choice.

Switch. Now I get to introduce my partner! I always thought of myself as a submissive until I met my partner. I constantly think about new ways to tie myself up and use fun ways as release methods. When I met my new partner, who was also more submissive, I started trying these ideas on them, and found that I greatly enjoyed it. That said, my partner and I have followed the same arc. We have a mutual love for being both submissive and dominant now, so I’d say I fall perfectly into the switch category.

Do you feel that your desire for bondage is more physical or emotional? (please elaborate)

Hard to choose one over the other. There is a physical aspect that compares to nothing else, but the trust and intimacy aspect is also unlike anything.

What does BDSM mean to you: is it a lifestyle, a diversion, or something else?

All the above. It is constantly on my mind, no matter my mood. When I’m happy, I want to play. When I’m not, I want it for a distraction. It’s almost like an addiction isn’t it?

Can you describe your first bondage experience?

I’m not really sure about my very first experience actually. I know that it was by myself, dabbling with self bondage, which I still enjoy doing. I did a lot of that before involving a partner. Played with ropes, candles, oil in the bathtub, keys in ice, etc etc.

What was your best bondage experience?

My best bondage experience is also hard to choose. I can most definitely say that it is with my new partner though. And I’m not just saying that. I have shared my fantasies with them, and it seems like that’s a pretty constant dialogue, and then they happen. It’s fantastic. I can say that one of the top ones involved a strapon, if I’m allowed to say that. And another one involved me in a chair. I was gagged, blindfolded and hands and feet were bound to the chair. Hahaha housemates yes.

What is the best advice you would give to someone just starting out with BDSM?

My best advice would probably just to start slow with exploring. Try things out one at a time and really analyze how it makes you feel. It’s hard to know what you like if there is just an overabundance of toys and sensations. If you’re past that part, then probably what everybody else says: communication is key! Tell it exactly how it is.

I’ve gotten many things and I can definitely say there is nothing I dislike! But there are two things that stand out.
